Snoop Dogg’s Merry Jane

By December 4, 2015Marijuana Facts

By now, we are all pretty familiar with Snoop Dogg’s affinity for marijuana. It’s kind of surprising the man doesn’t have his own strain by now. Until that moment comes, Snoop dabbles in marijuana vaporizers and as of today – a cannabis lifestyle website on which you can find pretty much all news relating to marijuana, albeit medical or recreational. In a nutshell, if you want to watch Seth Rogen roll a crossjoint, Merry Jane is the place to visit. According to the press release, merryjane.com will is “accross-section of cultural and lifestyle features, along with the latest cannabis policy, business, and economic news,”. Snoop Dogg did not go into this venture alone. Ted Chung is Snoops sidekick in this little endeavor.

Investors & Backing

If you have no idea who Ted Chung is, many people know him as the founder of the Cashmere Agency, where he is responsible for business development and company strategy. The company was established in 2003 and the client roaster is pretty impressive as it includes the likes of Netflix, The Weinstein Company and Red Bull, among others. But this is not an article about Ted Chung but more about the validity of a venture such as merryjane.com. With the green wave of marijuana enthusiasts, it was only a matter of time before marijuana websites dedicated to cannabis started popping up on the horizon.

Intersection of Cannabis & Technology

The website itself is divided into several categories, including the cultural, news, good, style, video, goods and dispensaries section. In a nutshell, you can find anything from recipes to good bud recommendations on there. And it will not let you down in any shape or form. Interestingly enough, the website was launched through unconventional routes, i.e. technology conferences that are usually not the main outlet for these kinds of ventures. However, marijuana is touching on a lot of different industries lately so it’s really no surprise that the website is basically on the intersection of marijuana, health, technology and lifestyle.

This is a statement from their official press release:

“MERRY JANE is the definitive cannabis resource on culture, news, video, food and style dedicated to expressing a new cannabis mentality. Through exclusive content and relatable perspectives, MERRY JANE highlights the best of cannabis lifestyle while also offering vital, interactive tools to explore the new frontier of products, dispensaries and community.”

There are plenty of cannabis websites being born right this minute. These are developed to become massive news outlets in order to attract more than just your average cannabis enthusiasts. The market will undoubtedly become saturated with the sheer amount of websites but in the long run – it doesn’t really matter how many of them pop up – but which ones will actually survive.
